CHARACTERISTICS OF BAROQUE PEARLS

Irregularly shaped pearls are called baroque pearls because in the Italian language, where the name comes from, baroque means irregular or non-standard. A pearl of an irregular shape is formed quite often, it happens when the nacre begins to cover not a perfectly even grain of sand, but, for example, a chipped piece of shell or another object of an irregular shape that accidentally got in from the outside.
